Role Objective
The role will be responsible for end-to-end quality assurance and quality control of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) across the entire lifecycle – from OEM qualification through manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and early operations.
The position acts as the Owner’s Quality Representative ensuring that WTGs delivered meet:
- Contractual guarantees
- Grid performance requirements
- Reliability expectations
- Safety standards
- Long-term asset performance objectives

Key Responsibilities
A. WTG OEM & Vendor Qualification
Lead quality assessment of:
- WTG OEMs
- Blade manufacturers
- Tower suppliers
- Generator manufacturers
- Gearbox suppliers
- Converter & control system vendors
- Foundation bolt/cage suppliers
Activities include:
- Factory capability audits
- Quality management system evaluation
- Manufacturing process assessment
- Failure history review
- Supply chain risk analysis
B. Quality Assurance Planning (QAP / ITP Management)
Develop and finalize:
- WTG Quality Assurance Plans (QAP)
- Inspection & Test Plans (ITP)
- Hold/Witness points
- Acceptance criteria aligned with TSA/EPC contracts
- Documentation and traceability framework
Ensure alignment between:
- Technical specifications
- Warranty guarantees
- Availability guarantees
- Reliability KPIs
C. Manufacturing Phase Quality Surveillance
Oversee manufacturing quality of critical WTG components:

D. Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
Witness and approve:
- Nacelle FAT

- Grid compliance simulations
Confirm readiness prior to shipment.
E. Pre-Dispatch Inspection (PDI)
Ensure dispatch approval only after:
- FAT closure
- Punch list clearance
- Documentation verification
- Serial number traceability
- Packing & transportation readiness
Issue dispatch clearance from Owner side.
F. Site Installation Quality Oversight
Coordinate with Projects & OEM teams to ensure:
Civil/Foundation Interface
- Anchor cage positioning
- Bolt tensioning verification
- Grouting quality
- Foundation tolerance compliance
Mechanical Installation
- Tower erection quality
- Flange alignment
- Torque verification
- Blade installation
- Crane operation compliance
Electrical Installation
- Cable terminations
- Earthing & bonding
- Converter installation
- SCADA interfaces
Conduct inspections, raise NCRs, and track closure.
G. Commissioning & MDCC Quality Closure
Lead QA participation during:
- Pre-commissioning checks
- WTG energization
- Trial run validation
- Grid synchronization readiness
- Performance testing
Responsible for quality clearance towards:
✅ Mechanical Completion Certificate (MCC)
✅ Mechanical Completion Document Closeout (MDCC)
✅ Final quality dossier submission
H. Post-Commissioning Quality & Reliability Management
- Monitor early-life turbine failures
- Support warranty enforcement
- Lead root cause investigations
- Coordinate corrective actions with OEM
- Track recurring defects across fleet

Education & Qualification
Mandatory
- B.Tech / BE – Mechanical / Electrical / Production / Renewable Energy
Preferred
- Wind turbine manufacturing or IPP experience
- Certified Quality Engineer / Six Sigma
- Exposure to OEM factory inspections
