Key Responsibilities

Role Overview

The Assistant General Manager – Project Management will be responsible for leading the end-to-end execution of utility-scale Solar and Solar–BESS Hybrid projects being developed by Sunsure Energy across India. The incumbent will oversee all phases from project development and design coordination to construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, quality, and safety standards.

This role demands strong leadership, multidisciplinary coordination, deep technical and regulatory understanding, and the ability to engage with multiple stakeholders including internal teams, clients, utilities, and government authorities.

Project Development & Planning

  • Oversee project development activities including site feasibility assessment, engineering design validation, permitting, and statutory approvals.
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding and planning for all permits, ROW issues, land approvals, metering regulations, and grid-compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and execution teams for engineering deliverables and construction readiness.

Project Execution & Construction Management

  • Lead and supervise project execution teams at sites to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with quality and HSE standards.
  • Drive execution of solar and solar–BESS hybrid projects of 300 MW+ scale; must have prior experience in delivering at least two such large-scale projects.
  • Monitor daily site progress, resolve on-ground challenges, and proactively address administrative, local, and ROW issues.
  • Ensure adherence to Sunsure’s quality assurance protocols and pre-commissioning testing procedures before energization.

Stakeholder & Regulatory Coordination

  • Act as the single point of contact for all external and internal stakeholders — including customers, utilities, consultants, other developers and statutory bodies.
  • Coordinate with authorities for CEIG, SLDC, TL, and Open Access approvals, and ensure compliance with REIA, grid interconnection, and COD demonstration guidelines.
  • Engage effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors, and management to ensure smooth project communication and accountability.

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Act as the single point of contact for all external and internal stakeholders — including customers, utilities, consultants, other developers and statutory bodies.
  • Coordinate with authorities for CEIG, SLDC, TL, and Open Access approvals, and ensure compliance with REIA, grid interconnection, and COD demonstration guidelines.
  • Engage effectively with cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors, and management to ensure smooth project communication and accountability.
  • Prepare, track, and control project budgets and cashflows; ensure project execution within approved cost limits.
  • Monitor project P&L, review cost allocations, and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Manage procurement and contracting processes through Sunsure’s ERP, ensuring timely vendor payments, documentation, and compliance with contractual milestones.

Technical & Engineering Oversight

  • Review and validate all engineering deliverables for electrical, civil, and instrumentation systems.
  • Possess strong understanding of grid compliance studies, load flow analysis, pre-commissioning testing protocols, and first-time charging approvals.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between engineering, construction, and commissioning teams for seamless transition to O&M.

  • Demonstrated capability in monitoring P&L, cost control, and budgetary allocations. Proficiency in project management tools and ERP systems.

Eduction And Experience Required

Experience – Minimum 10–15 years in utility-scale solar project management, with proven leadership in at least two projects of 300 MW+ each through development, construction, commissioning, and handover stages.

Education – Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (mandatory).
