Key Responsibilities
Logistics Operations
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of logistics operations, with a focus on international shipments, coordinating custom clearance, transportation, inventory reconciliation, team leadership, documentation, and vendor management. The ideal candidate will be having prior experience of 5-10 years in logistics management, preferably in the renewable energy or similar industry.
Import/Export Operations

 Lead & coordinate with relevant authorities (freight forwarders, shipping lines, transporters, and customs brokers) and vendors to ensure timely custom clearance for the import of solar PV modules/ Solar Cell /BESS/ Solar Trackers/ Module robotic cleaning system etc. Line up containers stuffed / Dock destuffed for inland transportation from the port to the solar plant site. Arrange for Trailers for delivery till site and follow-up for Lift on/ Lift off.

Domestic Logistics

  • Negotiate shipping rates and terms with logistics service providers and arrange trailers and trucks for shipping equipment from the supplier’s plant for Solar Modules / Wind Turbine Generators (WTG’s) /Transformers/ IDT etc. to respective solar & wind project sites. Ensure that route surveys are conducted and transit insurance are valid.
  • Negotiate and maintain contracts with reliable transporters and fleet providers.
  • Monitor and optimize vehicle deployment to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely deliveries.

 

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key transporters and logistics partners.
  • Continuously expand vendor base for both domestic and international logistics needs
  • Liaise with suppliers, buyers, and internal departments (procurement, finance, warehouse) for smooth trade operations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors, negotiate favorable contracts and pricing terms, and ensure timely delivery of goods.

 

Cost Management, Documentation & Reporting

  • Develop and maintain logistics cost structures and perform cost benchmarking.
  • Optimize freight and vehicle costs through market intelligence and strategic negotiation.
  • Generate regular MIS reports on logistics performance, cost savings, and vendor efficiency
  • Prepare and verify shipping documents such as invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and LC documents.
  • Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery and handle exceptions proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations, customs laws, and international trade agreements.
  • Maintain records of all import/export transactions and ensure proper filing for audits.
  • Assist in duty drawbacks, export incentives (e.g., MEIS/RODTEP), and DGFT-related documentation.
  • Stay updated on changes in global trade policies, customs procedures, and tariffs.
  • Maintain a lot of shipments in transit and provide regular updates.
  • Maintain a strong network of transporters to obtain quotations and negotiate with them for order closure and vehicle arrangements.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and handle logistics operations as required.

Subject Matter Expert

Knowledge of procurement best practices, import laws, custom clearance procedures, transportation regulations.

Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills to ensure accuracy and compliance

Leadership Skills

Ability to manage vendors, contractors, etc.

Ability to lead and independently handle end to end process with minimum supervision.

Education and Experience Required

Experience: 5-10 years in Experience relevant field with renewable energy companies.

Education: Graduate / Postgraduate in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
