KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Role Overview
  1. Sunsure is growing from around 800 MW of operating capacity toward a multi-GW portfolio. The Centre of Excellence builds the automation, applications and implements AI use cases that let the company scale without simply adding headcount.
  2. As a developer, you will build internal applications end to end, and you will own the applications we have already deployed. You will be the person who keeps our live systems running, whether you own the work yourself or manage it through external vendors.
  3. You will also shape how these systems are designed : the data models, the integration patterns, and how each new application fits the estate we already have.
  4. It is a wide brief for a small team, and it comes with the autonomy to match. You will work directly with the Head of the CoE, alongside a business analyst and an engineer whose code you will review.
  5. We use AI-assisted development to expedite deployment: Claude and similar tools are part of the daily toolkit, but with one firm rule : you are able to break down, understand, document and test everything you ship.
• Design & Build applications
  1. Build internal applications on our stack: React front ends, Python or Node.js APIs, PostgreSQL, and Azure App Service, Functions and Blob storage.
  2. Design before you build. Choose the data model, the integration approach and the authentication pattern (Azure Entra ID), and capture the decision in a short design note so the next person understands why.
• Application upkeep
  1. Own the deployed estate. Keep applications running, fix bugs, watch the monitoring, and manage the maintenance backlog — directly or through freelancers and vendors you brief and quality-check.
  2. Review the engineer’s code for correctness, tests, security basics and documentation.
• Data Management
  1. Build data pipelines, Power BI dashboards and the integrations between our systems, always reading from governed data sources rather than private files.
  2. Deploy properly: Development to Production separation, versioned releases, secrets in Azure Key Vault, and clean logs for audit.
• UAT Ownership
  1. Write and run test cases, support UAT with the business teams, and help users through go-live.
  2. Keep runbooks and documentation current, and test backups and restores.

NON-NEGOTIABLE TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Tech Savvy
  1. Strong fundamentals in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, with the ability to explain any code you submit, including AI-assisted code.
  2. Hands-on Microsoft Azure experience deploying and operating production workloads, with working proficiency in REST APIs and PostgreSQL.
• GIT
  Disciplined use of Git: branching strategy, pull requests and code review
• Architectural Capability
  Demonstrated architecture capability: you have designed database schemas and system integrations, and can articulate the trade-offs behind your design decisions.
